Consultation has concluded
Consultation on this project is now closed. Thank you for your feedback.
In September and October 2020, we asked for feedback on the draft Net Zero Emissions Action Plan for Council Operations 2025. We received four submissions, which were reported to Council at the 26 November 2020 Council Meeting. The Action Plan was adopted at this Meeting and is available to download from the Reducing Council emissions page on our website.
About the Action Plan
Council is going carbon neutral!
In 2017, Council resolved to be net zero emissions for Council Operations by 2025, and to source 100% of its energy from renewable sources by 2027.
In 2019, Council adopted the Net Zero Emissions Strategy for Council Operations 2025. The Strategy sets the climate change context and maps out a dynamic, high-level pathway for Council to achieve its aspirational climate change mitigation goals.
The Action Plan has been crafted to sit alongside the Strategy and provide specific and practical measures that will be rolled into Council’s four-year Delivery Program and annual Operational Plan.
Next steps
Progress updates on the Action Plan and Council’s emissions reduction and renewable energy targets will be provided to Council each year as part of the annual emissions inventory.
For further information on Council’s approach to climate change mitigation and adaptation, see Council’s climate change page.
