Stronger Country Communities - round 2

Do you have a project you'd like to get off the ground to help improve the quality of life of people living in Byron Shire?

The Stronger Country Communities Fund, Round 2 is now open, and we're after your help for our submission.

The Stronger Country Communities Fund aims to invest in infrastructure projects in regional NSW communities to improve the lives of residents and enhance the attractiveness of these areas as vibrant places to live and work.

Funding is provided to local projects such as parks, community halls, playgrounds and amenity blocks.

There is $200 million available for applications to support local infrastructure projects that will improve amenity and help sustain the social bonds at the heart of strong regional communities.

Applicants: Please add your project to the ideas forum (once only) and encourage your community to like and vote for it.

**Please make sure you have formally registered your project, along with supporting documents by emailing jodi.frawley@byron.nsw.gov.au by midday April 30 2018.

Ideas we have received so far that meet the criteria include:

Broken Head Road Cycleway: Safer movement for pedestrians/cycles from Suffolk to Byron

Recreational Bike Circuit, Cavanbah Centre: Complete circuit construction for learn to ride, tri-club and community users

Ocean Shores Country Club Facilities Upgrade: Upgrade swimming pool, lawn bowls & amenities facilities

Bangalow Bowls Club Children's Playground: Construct a safe & secure shaded children's playground for families

Suffolk Park Sporting & Exercise facilities: Construct a BMX track, Erect shade over skate park and install fitness equipment in park for seniors

Byron Community Centre Theatre: Amenities redesign, disabled stage access ramp for performers

Eureka Hall Upgrade: Upgrade amenities & kitchen facilities

Mullumbimby Golf Club Facilities Upgrade: Upgrade of catering and outdoor undercover facilities

Mullumbimby Cycleway: Development of 5km cycleway Tuckeroo Ave to Shearwater School

Brunswick Valley Historical Society Upgrade: Facilities external repaint, internal temperature control and lighting
